Jefferson RISE Location: 501B Lapalco Blvd, Gretna, LA 70056

What does Jefferson RISE offer?

Jefferson RISE provides a safe, supportive, and successful college preparatory education.  Our mission is to prepare all scholars in grades 6-12 to succeed in four-year colleges and professional careers.  We have a longer school day and year, a structured academic environment, and individualized tutoring for all students.

A Jefferson RISE Education

Why should I consider Jefferson RISE for my child?

Jefferson RISE offers a college prep education with no tuition and no entrance exam. We have an extended day and extended school year – during that extra time, each child attends English, math, science, and social studies, enrichment classes, and targeted tutoring. Not only do we teach academic classes, but we also teach character in advisory, focusing on our values of Respect, Integrity, Self-Discipline, and Excellence. Every child will leave Jefferson RISE prepared to succeed in a four-year college and professional career.

How does Jefferson RISE prepare students for college?

Jefferson RISE maintains a strong literacy and math foundation through extended in-school learning time and individualized tutoring for every student (both advanced tutoring for students who are ahead and remediation for students who are behind).  Our students continue to experience growth in areas beyond academics as they adhere to the RISE Core Values – Respect, Integrity, Self-Discipline, and Excellence.

What grades will Jefferson RISE have next year?

Jefferson RISE will have 6th and 7th grade students for the 2016-17 school year.

Will Jefferson RISE include more grades in the future?

Yes, Jefferson RISE will continue to add one grade per year until we are a fully enrolled middle-high school.

During last year’s lottery, we enrolled roughly 120 6th grade students. Next year, our 6th graders will become 7th graders and Jefferson RISE will enroll a new 6th grade class. We will continue to grow in this way, adding one grade per year, until we have grades 6 – 12.

What afterschool programs are available?

We have continued to grow our list of afterschool partners throughout our first year.  We are currently building a more comprehensive program list to publish for interested families.  If you have any specific program questions, please email enroll@jeffersonrise.org.

What kinds of extracurricular and enrichment classes are offered?

Friday RISE Enrichment will include a variety of subjects including music, art, sports, languages, dance, etc. RISE Enrichment will be taught by teachers and trained volunteers with professional experience. Each Enrichment cycle will span approximately 5 weeks, with different course selections being offered throughout the year.

Will sports be offered?

For the 2015-2016 school year, sports will be offered through enrichment programming during school hours.  For students interested in participating in afterschool athletics, RISE offers afterschool clubs based on student interest and has partnered with local recreation departments to transport students to local teams.   As our school grows, we will expand our sports program to include our very own sports teams.

Will there be a program that fits my child’s specific learning needs at Jefferson RISE (i.e. English Language Learners, Special Education, Learning Disabilities)?

At Jefferson RISE, we are committed to every student.

We understand that every student experiences learning differently.  That is why we encourage parents with specific concerns to speak directly to the Head of School.  These conversations help prospective parents learn about programs specific to their child’s needs.
